Authorities have apologized after kicking two prospective jurors out of a San Diego courthouse because they wouldn't take off vests bearing the death's head insignia of the Hells Angels.
Sheriff's deputies said they were enforcing a judge's order when they made Timothy Timms and Mick Rush leave Superior Court on Monday morning. Both men say they belong to the motorcycle gang and were reporting for jury duty.
But authorities later in the day apologized, saying the deputies had misunderstood Judge Jeffrey Fraser's order. He is hearing a drug case and has banned four defendants from wearing Hells Angels clothing in his courtroom.
Timms says he accepts the apology. The next time he is called to jury duty, he plans to wear his Hells Angels vest again.
