A CROSS FOR EACH OF OUR CASUALTIES IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

This is set up here in Pocatello each year for memorial day holiday. Each year it gets bigger and bigger.

I seen it when it was set up at Irving Junior High in 2004. In 2005 the year that it was up at the fair grounds here in Idaho I helped set up part of it as part of my SCILDS community service.

Last year I went to it at Century Highschool. It had outgrown it's previous locations. On memorial day I went to it again and took my camera for a few pics to share of it.

The camera does not do it justice. You really need to be there. I tried to get a pic that included ALL of the crosses. I could not do it. There is too many.

They set up the crosses using the road surveying tool so they are all aligned.

when you are walking among the crosses and it hits you that EACH CROSS represents a life lost it is very very emotional.

Sometimes when they are putting the crosses up they have to keep adding to them when more deaths occur in Iraq and Afganistan.

The death is too new so they had no info. Notice the date? It's the same day I was there. The family of the dead soldier or Marine may not of even been notified yet of their youg son or daughters death.

Some of the crosses have flowers adorned on them. These are the local men that have lost their lives.

My eyes are watering up now. They alwas do when I see the pic of Blake and his wife. I don't even know them. I can't begin to understand what his family must feel.

All the marines have the Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem on their cross.
