One of my customers traps hogs around the county for the hell of it.  When he gets some young ones he sells them to the local hispanic famlies for cooking.  Lately, there was one large bore that got smart about the traps (guess he'd seen some of his group caught) and when he found one, he would try to tear it up.  He even turned one on it's side.  Anyway, my customer got tired of that shit.  He and his son sat up in a tree and waited for the big SOB with .270 Remingtons.  Just before dark last Sat evening, they caught him comming up to one of the traps a rooting under the side ( trying to turn it over).  Shot the damn thing 6 times before they dropped it.  He wieghed in at 495 lbs.!  Wish I had a copy of the picture.  It took 3 men to get it loaded into the back of the P/U by lifting the front up to the bed and then basically dragging it into the bed.

They gave the damn thing to a local hog farmer.  He cut it up and mixed in with corn, hay and sorgum in the grinder creating a yummy mix to feed back to his hogs!

Ferrall hogs are about to take controll of some parts of our county.  Alfalfa hay farmers (which you bale after the dew has set after dark) carry 45's and 357 magnums as side arms in case they are attacked when they get off the tractors to check the bales.  Sounds like bull shit but it's the truth.  I know too many of these guys and have seen the pistols in their trucks.  A few of the local cattle farmers have even lost newborn calves to big hogs.  The TX Game Wardens say there are three laws relating to shooting the hogs : 1.  No shooting on public lands,  2. If you see a hog and have a weapon, shoot the SOB,  3.  If you shoot one or trap one it MUST be killed!  It is illegal to leave one alive.  (PERIOD).

Might have made a pretty good one back in the 50's and 60's!
