are you using for a charging system? Is that an old Harley generator I saw?
Runnig two Carter WCFB's? How many CFM each? Progressive mechanical linkage or vaccum controlled? (Never mind -- I looked again and saw the linkage on the side). And is that a "Cool Can" on the side? When I was a teen ager and had a '69 Stang street rod, we made a cool can out of a 2# coffee can with copper tube wrapped around the inside. Filled the damn thing with dry ice when we ran. Made a HELL of a differance in the hot Texas summers!
Those 409 heads look a LOT like the 427 heads my B.I.L. has on his '66 Sting.
STILL want to hear it run!

1.I think what your seeing is the electric motor for the water pump.
2.We put a small mistubishi alternator on the other side and we can shut that off during the run for less drag.
3. yep its a cool can.
4. they are 550 cfm for a total 1100 cfm
5. Yea I want too hear it run also, we are finishing up the small stuff now.
6 im like a kid in a candy store every time i work on it. cant wait to
go down that track.
I guess you're right that it's the water pump. Looks like a generator that Harley used in the 60's and early 70's. At least I was told that was what the damn thing was off when I rebuilt it. Pain in the ass to find components!
As a hobby I'm sure you enjoy it. For me -- when I get off work I don't even want to think about working on cars. Guess I burned myself out when I was a young buck. Still love to hear them run though!

Fuck, we where going to fire up the 409 last night, ran into a few snaggs
the oil pump shaft was to short so the distributor would not turn it.
Ray the guy who's car it is calls me and sied all nervus. Fuck we have to pull the engine back out to pull the oil pan off to pull the oil pump out, I got to the garage and found some long needle nose plyers and got it out found the right length shaft and bam back in business, nope not just yet we go to put water in the radiator and one of the head bolts starts leaking Fuck.now its 2:30 AM time to go to bed. today is a different day.
Never messed with a 409. Did they have some copper seals that went between the bolt head and the top of the head? I messed with a 43 Willis Jeep that had those and they were a nightmare to get to seal!
GOOD LUCK!
