SAN DIEGO – The radar gun blinks wildly. It’s not used to this. No one makes it strain to read out a third digit. It looks like binary code, not the speed of a pitch from a 20-year-old kid: 101.

It keeps showing up, 101 again and again, and as scouts peek at the number, they ask aloud what everyone else in the baseball world wonders: Will Stephen Strasburg someday throw a baseball harder than anyone has before?

Here is the rest of the story:  http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=sh-strasburg032409&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Yep...I agree.

I am more worried about him throwing his arm out. I see a lot of the guys that can throw fastballs but that is all they throw.

we had a young guy a long time ago (early 70's) fantastic softball player, I was on the same team as him, as a kid, 11- 13 full of pimples etc, was picked up by an american talent scout and went to the states......

he played all the majors etc, was last in the line outs, dugouts etc, cause as dan says thats all he could do was throw the fuckin ball. Got a twitch in his arm and was dumped before he could fart.

They didnt want him batting cause they wanted his body to get used to one style of movement, the US style, however his style was Aus, which was pitching and stopping the arm at the waist. bit like underarm.

however in the states you dont pitch from the waist, you throw the ball, thats what fucked him.
