Well finally last week I was able to get back to work on the Glencoe. The engine is in and the exhaust tips have been installed. It has been a bit tough to go into the shop and not see my boat, it is quite empty in there without it. Today we worked on the steering. I hope to have it all installed tomorrow along with all the aluminum pieces sprayed with the anodize in a can. Once all of that is dry we can start installing the gauges. It will be nice to have it all wired up and ready for some testing. I will post up some pictures of the progress real soon.

We have been working hard at getting it ready for Memorial Day weekend. I have to spend 4 days down in San Diego getting my Capt. License and the boat to be certified by the Coast Guard. We are hoping to have a water test sometime next week. I still need a few odds and ends but it is coming together steadily.

Here is some progress pictures. Putting on the rub-rail.

Here is the engine hatch, it is made from a 2" x 2" frame for extra strength and durability. It will also have a nice beveled edge on three sides and the all joints glassed. I will the seal the entire hatch with a thinned out resin.

Here is some of the progress of the last couple of days. Now the main objective of this boat is as a work vessel not Bling or passenger comfort. Please remember that 99% of the parts used are either used or reconditioned. The aluminum parts were usually too stained to polish up quickly so they were painted for a uniform finish and color. The only new stuff on this boat is the paint, resin and wood.

The last test fit.

Sanding smooth before resin.

One side of the hatch, seat back and base and cargo/engine dividers resined.

Rear of engine showing the Black crinkle finish.

Well the hard part of the hatch is done. Now I have to get some rear hinges and struts to help lift it when we need to open it. We are also going to get it upolstered to make it a bit easier to climb on when working on the river.

Thanks HotRod for the suction housing, it will work out perfectly.

Well the project is showing signs of coming to a end. The bench is 5'8" wide, enough for 4 adults to sit comfortably. It is large enough to fit a stow-away as well. As you can see Amanda thought it was cute to lay in it like it was a coffin. But then again it would be a good place to store the rum.

Tomorrow we will be painting all the panels and hatch with more Epoxy Garage Floor paint. Then the tower will get built for the light bar and the crows nest. Then we can start on the wiring and reinstalling the gauges.

Here are a few pictures of the progress. It is starting to come together. Now remember all the items are recycled, lots of cleaning had to be done. This boat showed signs of being sunk before we purchased it. Amanda has been a huge help, as she has worked very hard on this boat.

Well I have been working on the steering wheel that came with the boat. I    felt that it was hidious looking and uncomfortable, not to mention it was rusted and ripped in a few places. After I took the jigsaw to it I started to shape it. Then I took SeaGoin Epoxy and filled in the voids. Today I am going to go to one of our local upholstery shops to get a estimate on covering it.
